5 EXTERIOR Spring Cleaning Tips For Your Home

5 EXTERIOR Spring Cleaning Tips For Your Home

It’s that time of year again. Spring is just around the corner. Now is the time to pack away the winter clothes, take down the curtains, and open the blinds. Spring time, means Spring cleaning. Chances are your interior design is perfect. After all, you have had all winter to clean the inside of your home.

The exterior of your home now needs your full attention. Here are 5 Exterior Spring Cleaning Tips to help you get started:

  • Pressure wash your home’s exterior. If you have siding installed, or if your home’s exterior is dingy and dirty, use a pressure washer to clean the surface. A pressure washer is not expensive, and can be purchased or rented from a local department store or home improvement center. Mild chlorine like bleach, added to several gallons of water will remove dirt buildup.

  • Add a fresh layer of paint to give your home’s exterior a face lift. Depending on the type of paint you used in the past. Your exterior paint might be peeling or fading. Scraping off the old paint and applying a fresh new coat of paint will work wonders for your home’s outer appearance. You can get a new exterior look for your home, without paying the high price for a professional painting service.

  • Prune your plants and mow your lawn. Nothing speaks louder than a freshly cut yard, and well groomed plants. Chances are your trees, plants and shrubberies may have suffered irreversible damage. Dead leaves damaged roots, broken branches and even frost bite. You can trim away the damaged part of the plants, and hire a professional tree service to cut down diseased trees. Damaged trees that linger over your roof, can knock down power lines, and destroy your roofing system.

  • Clearing out your gutters is either easy or pleasant, but it is necessary. The quality of your roof depends on how well you maintain your gutters. You cannot see the broken branches, the twigs, the fallen leaves or the dead insects and pests that are clogging your gutters. To get started you need a ladder, a scooper and a bucket and do not forget the gloves. Once you have cleared the debris from your gutters, take a water hose and wash away any remaining debris.

  • Clean the pool and the pool area. Now that Spring is almost here, you will want to host a pool party, or invite friends over for an afternoon of fun on the patio. Take a skimmer basket to clear away the leaves and other debris from the pool. If necessary call a pool service to drain, clean and fill the pool. Power wash the concrete areas around the pool and the patio, and remember to wash the outdoor patio furniture. If you have a deck, try adding a fresh stain coat to the surface.

Taking care of your home’s exterior can be fun, exciting and yet challenging. You can create a beautiful garden in your front or backyard and add new coats of paints or quality siding to your home. During the Spring season, life and beauty is everywhere.
